Summit County Family Emergency Preparedness Guide
Disasters can strike quickly and without warning. They can force you to evacuate your neighborhood or be confined to your home. What would you do if basic services – water, gas, electricity or telephones – were cut off? Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone right away.
Families can – and do – cope with disasters by preparing in advance and working together as a team. Follow the steps listed in this brochure to create your family’s disaster plan. Knowing what to do is your best protection and your responsibility. Click here to download a copy of this important preparedness guide.
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness program is responsible for the planning and program development for the Summit County Health Department to protect the public health of Summit County’s residents and visitors from the effects of manmade and naturally-occurring events. The Health Department works closely with other agencies at the local, state and federal levels. The goals of the program are to upgrade preparedness for and response to bioterrorism, other outbreaks of infectious disease, and other public health threats and emergencies.
